Using a standing or hand mixer cream your butter until soft.
add all of your sugar and whip again until the sugar and butter are homogenous and thoroughly mixed.
Add your flour roughly one cup at a time and mix until well combined.
once all your flour has been incorporated dump the dough onto a well floured surface and roll it out until 1/2 inch thick.
using cookie cutters or a pizza cutter portion out the dough into individual cookies and place on your sheet tray.
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown on the edges, making sure to rotate the pan after 6 minutes if your oven cooks unevenly. Remove from the oven and let cool for several minutes before transferring to a cooling rack or a plate. Let cool completely before serving.
